SRE/DevOps Engineer
A bit about us...
Please allow us to celebrate our own success for a moment... We've built a customer-centric product that is market-leading, and we are smashing it!
We're a multi-award-winning digital payments and insight platform within the automotive industry. We work with over 5,000 automotive retailers, helping drivers to pay for motoring costs, accessories, and other services through a variety of different payment options. Our purpose is to build a solution that gives drivers peace of mind while enhancing customer experience and assisting with dealer profitability.
Bumper is a fast-growing payments scale‑up, and after an exciting Series B in 2024, we’re continuing to expand across Europe. We’re now looking to welcome a talented SRE/DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and help us elevate our reliability, incident response, and cloud platform capabilities.
Our Head Office is in Sheffield City Centre, with offices also based in London and Turkey. We've also expanded further, bringing retailers in Ireland, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands on board, with the vision of being the leading automotive payment and insights platform!
A bit about the role...
As an SRE / DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening the reliability, observability, and resilience of our cloud‑native platform. This role sits at the intersection of Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and Incident Response, blending operational excellence with platform engineering.
You’ll work closely with engineering teams across Bumper to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and well‑monitored — while also improving how we detect, respond to, and learn from production incidents. This is a chance to make a real impact on our infrastructure foundations, developer experience, and operational culture.
This is a full‑time remote role based in Spain, reporting directly to the Head of DevOps & Infrastructure.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Design, build and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure
Manage and enhance our Kubernetes (EKS) platform to support reliable, modern applications
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm
Improve and support CI/CD pipelines using Argo Workflows, ArgoCD and GitHub Actions
Lead and participate in incident response, including on‑call activities and major incident coordination
Drive high‑quality monitoring, alerting and observability across metrics, logs and traces
Conduct and support blameless post‑incident reviews, ensuring follow‑up actions are delivered
Define and implement SLIs/SLOs to improve service reliability and operational excellence
Collaborate with engineering teams to embed best practices and improve developer experience
Contribute to automation, tooling, and continuous improvements that reduce toil and increase platform resilience
What we are looking for in you…
We’re excited to welcome someone who shares our passion for building reliable, scalable, well‑engineered cloud systems. You thrive in environments where operational thinking, curiosity, and continuous improvement are valued.

Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms

Experience participating in or managing production incidents and on‑call
Strong grasp of monitoring, alerting, and observability principles
Ability to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems issues
Demonstrated use of GenAI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) in engineering workflows
Excellent communication and calmness under pressure
A passion for automation and reducing toil
Nice to haves...
Experience with Grafana Cloud, IRM or other incident management tools
Familiarity with Argo Workflows / ArgoCD
Experience defining SLIs/SLOs at scale
Background in Platform Engineering
Experience improving or redesigning incident management processes
